Tips And Tricks On How To Care For Your Conversion

Now that you have your new mobile habitat you'll need to know a few things about how care and operate your new conversion. Just like your home you'll need some cleaning products, toiletries, kitchen items, etc. Here is some of the things we learned and some of the products that we recommend.

Cabinets

Caring for your Habix cabinetry is simple. All the cabinets are plastic laminated and most household cleaners will do a good job. We recommend the Seventh Generation multi-surface cleaner. It does a good job and doesn't leave any chemicals.

Floors

We use a luxury vinyl plank flooring it's is fully waterproof and very easy to clean. A portable handheld vacuum and swiffer sweeper work great for keeping your floors clean.

Wall panels

Habix wall panels are made with a waterproof canvas making it easy to clean and maintain. Most stains and spots come out with a simple soapy water solution. In the rare case you have stain that won't come out, you can use Mohawk Finishing Products Upholstery/Fabric Cleaner.

Water system

Your water system starts with the water you put in it. Use a BPA free drinking water hose and an inline hose water filter so the water is filtered before it enters the water tank. To clean your water system use a 1/2 teaspoon of Clorox Bleach per five gallons. It is recommended that you clean your tanks once a year or sooner if you detect an odor or bad taste. For gray water tanks double the amount of bleach. If you store water for a long period of time you can treat it with Camco TastePURE Drinking Water Freshener and it will keep your water fresh for a longer periods of time.

Kitchen

We recommend using the Seventh Generation natural dish soap since a lot of times, you will be flushing your gray water at RV parks or on the ground and this natural soap won't affect the surrounding environment.

Toiletries

We typically install tank cassette toilets. These have a freshwater tank on top that is used for flushing and a waste storage tank on the bottom. These toilets require a holding tank treatment liquid that deodorizes and keeps things from smell nice. We recommend the Thetford Aqua-KEM for the holding tank and Thetford seal lube to keep your seal lasting a long time. The toilet comes with emptying instructions, and is a simple process to follow. You can also empty your toilet in public restrooms in parks or into RV sewer hook ups.
