About us

Habix was founded in Austin, Texas by Mark. He worked in his father's cabinet shop from an early age and later operated his own carpentry businesses, in the custom cabinetry and millwork industry. In 2016 he built his first camper van and spent the next few years traveling, living and working from his mobile habitat. The impact those few years had on his life were the catalyst for founding Habix and sharing the lifestyle. Mark is the lead designer and engineer of Habix conversions, and each build is built with the same attention to detail as a personal build.

When the opportunity to start Habix became a reality, Mark proposed the idea of building custom conversions to his longtime friend Peter, who came on board and is the operations manager, fabricator, and design consultant. Peter has over a decade of construction, carpentry and fabrication experience, and is a vital part of getting the conversions built and ensuring quality is the priority in each Habix build.

Design is a crucial part of the build process. Mark’s brother Daniel, owner of Craftsman Studios, is an industrial designer and works magic to make a CAD design of the habitat. He turns your dream build in to realistic visual renderings and working drawings that we use to CNC cut and assemble your custom habitat. Each build is precisely designed and professionally fabricated and installed for an unparalleled quality.

What we are about

We enjoy creating and making an inspirational product that empowers self-sufficiency, adventure and people getting out to see all the beautiful places the world has to offer.

We know a mobile habitat can be the thing that lets you escape the grind for the weekend and go exploring in comfort but it can also be a safety net in an emergency. During a harsh Texas storm Mark realized an important benefit of having a mobile habitat. When the power went out and the water stopped running in the home, his mobile habitat was producing power with the use of solar panels and had stored water, fuel and food. It got him through the storm in relative comfort.

Our team shares similar lifestyles and values, such as independence, self-sufficiency, adventure and integrity. Building mobile habitats and living the lifestyle ourselves, brings us together to create a great product, and provide great service. Our goal is for you to experience everything that a mobile habitat can offer.

Having a small dedicated team allows us to keep our focus on you and a consistent high quality standard. Take the journey to create your dream conversion with us, you will be glad you did.
